Israel Adesanya reclaimed the UFC title by stopping Brazilian champ Alex Pereira at UFC 287. Adesanya played possum against the fence, taking hard shots to the body from Pereira, before he snuck in a pair of right hands that sent his three-time foe to the canvas, out cold.
The win came just five months after Adesanya was stopped in the fifth round of a fight he was winning against Pereira, who had twice beat him in the kickboxing ring. Several fighters took to Twitter to comment on the UFC 287 main card, including Adesanya’s win over Pereira.
Jan Blachowicz congratulated Adesanya on his successful rematch, offering him another one at middleweight for the belt. Aljamain Sterling praised Adesanya’s statement in reclaiming the crown, while Ben Askren acknowledged that Pereira was fighting well but got careless. Additionally, other fighters commented on the surprising wins and losses that occurred during the event, highlighting the excitement of UFC 287.
