Chris Curtis is set to face Nassourdine Imavov in a middleweight bout at UFC 289, following his incredible battle with Kelvin Gastelum earlier this month.
Chris Curtis seems to be gearing up for a swift return to the octagon after his thrilling bout with Kelvin Gastelum earlier this month. Sources knowledgeable about the promotion’s plans have revealed that a middleweight showdown between Curtis and Nassourdine Imavov is being planned for UFC 289, scheduled for June 10 in Vancouver. Verbal agreements are already in place for the match-up, with contracts anticipated to be signed shortly.
Curtis did not secure the judges’ favor in his UFC 287 duel with Gastelum, but the duel was still awarded the event’s Fight of the Night. “The Action Man” has a record of 4-2 across his six-fight octagon career, including stoppage victories over Phil Hawes, Brendan Allen, and Joaquin Buckley. On the other hand, Imavov is also seeking to bounce back into the winning column after a unanimous decision loss to Sean Strickland at UFC Vegas 67 in January. Before that defeat, Imavov had enjoyed a three-win streak, including finishes against Edmen Shahbazyan and Ian Heinisch.
The headline event at UFC 289 will be a trilogy bout for the women’s bantamweight title between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Peña.
