Just over one week before UFC 290, Sean Brady exits his welterweight fight against Jack Della Maddalena due to undisclosed reasons, and Maddalena now hopes for a replacement opponent.
With just a little over a week remaining before the UFC 290 event, Sean Brady is compelled to step down from his welterweight match against rising star Jack Della Maddalena. This unfortunate turn of events was confirmed by multiple sources and was also indicated by Brady who shared a photo of himself on Instagram, receiving some form of medication with the caption ‘Day 4’. The first news of his withdrawal was, however, reported on Twitter.
In the aftermath of Brady’s withdrawal, Della Maddalena eagerly awaits information on his potential replacement, although no final decision has been made by the UFC. As indicated by his camp, the Australian fighter is receptive to the idea of fighting “anyone” in the weight range of 170 to 185 pounds. Up until now, Della Maddalena has been undefeated demonstrating a spectacular performance in the octagon with all first-round finishes.
Touted as a future title contender, Della Maddalena isn’t willing to wait for a ranked contender or compete at a later date. He has chosen to stay in Vegas with the hope that he would get a chance to fight on July 8. As for Brady, this is a tough blow, especially after he had to withdraw from a previously scheduled fight against Michel Pereira back in March. Hailing from Philadelphia, Brady was looking forward to redeeming his first career loss after his defeat against Belal Muhammad in October. Despite current circumstances, Brady aims to bounce back and return to the win column, but it looks like he will have to wait until a later date now. Meanwhile, Della Maddalena is still hopeful about potentially competing in a different fight at UFC 290.
