UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling anticipates his main event title fight against Sean O’Malley, discusses his previous three months since winning against Henry Cejudo, responds to O’Malley’s claim of him appearing nervous, dismisses the worth of O’Malley’s octagon victories, and reveals his plan to challenge featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski provided he wins the upcoming match.
UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling is gearing up for his main event title fight against Sean O’Malley at UFC 292. During Wednesday’s media day, Sterling offered a preview ahead of the much-anticipated bout. Widely known as “Funk Master”, Sterling shared his thoughts on what the last few months have felt like for him, following his victory over Henry Cejudo.
The reigning champ also confronted rumors about his future in the bantamweight category. He refuted notions about moving to a different weight class, specifically quelling speculation about this being his last fight at 135. Sterling, however, did not entirely dismiss the idea, leaving some room for ambiguity about his plans for the future.
On top of the anticipatory fight discussions, Sterling addressed Sean O’Malley’s remarks, stating that his challenger thought he looked nervous. Aljamain countered these clams, confidently expressing that he certainly doesn’t feel impressed by O’Malley’s list of victories in the octagon. Looking past the upcoming fight, Sterling ambitiously mentioned his plans to call out featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, should he come out victorious against O’Malley.
