UFC 300 Fight Card: Rumors of Alex Pereira’s Potential Heavyweight Move

UFC 300, set to take place in Las Vegas on April 13, promises to feature one of the most stacked and unpredictable lineups in the company’s history, with the potential return of Conor McGregor and fights involving Aljamain Sterling, Calvin Kattar, Jiri Prochazka, Aleksandar Rakic, Bo Nickal, and Cody Brundage already announced.

UFC 300 is all set to be a monumental event this April. After a year of turmoil, UFC is bringing UFC 300 home to Las Vegas on April 13. Dana White, UFC CEO, is promising an unpredictable, stacked lineup like never before.

Four title fights are already scheduled for the first quarter of the year. These include Sean Strickland vs. Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title, and Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Raquel Pennington for the vacant women’s bantamweight title at UFC 297. Alexander Volkanovski vs. Ilia Topuria for the featherweight title at UFC 298, and Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera for the bantamweight title at UFC 299. The direction UFC 300 could take is anyone’s guess.

Will UFC 300 see the return of Conor McGregor, the sport’s biggest star? Only time will tell. The countdown to UFC 300 has officially begun. For now, bookmark this page. We’ll keep you updated with every fight announcement, rumors, and more.

On Dec. 21, Dana White announced the first three fights for UFC 300. Although the main event remains a mystery, White revealed that former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling is moving up to featherweight to face Calvin Kattar. Jiri Prochazka, former light heavyweight champion, will return after a shoulder injury to face Aleksandar Rakic. Bo Nickal will make his third octagon appearance against Cody Brundage. White plans to announce more bouts after the new year.

Alex Pereira has already changed the sport forever. He began 2023 with a knockout loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287, only to move up to 205 pounds, beat a former champion, and capture the vacant title by knocking out Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295. In just seven UFC fights, Pereira is a two-division UFC champion. But is that enough?

Pereira posted a cryptic math problem on his Instagram stories: 30 + 300 = 3. Some believe Pereira is hinting at a move to heavyweight: Gain 30 pounds, fight at UFC 300, win a third divisional title. But who would he fight? Jon Jones or interim champ Tom Aspinall? Or is Pereira hinting at an MMA trilogy fight with Adesanya? Only time will tell.

On Dec. 17, Dustin Poirier called out his longtime rival Nate Diaz for UFC 300. Diaz fought out his UFC contract at UFC 279 in September, where he stopped Tony Ferguson in the main event. Since then, Diaz lost a unanimous decision to Jake Paul in a boxing match in August, and has yet to reveal his next move.

Poirier has other options, including Arman Tsarukyan, who recently knocked out Beneil Dariush at UFC Austin. Poirier told MMA Fighting that he’s hoping for a fight that excites him, which would include the opportunity to fight at UFC 300.

The current UFC 300 lineup includes Aljamain Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar, Jiri Prochazka vs. Aleksandar Rakic, and Bo Nickal vs. Cody Brundage.
