UFC 311 Medical Suspensions: Umar Nurmagomedov Faces 6-Month Layoff

Following UFC 311, several fighters, including Umar Nurmagomedov and Jailton Almeida, face potential six-month medical suspensions due to injuries sustained during their bouts, with clearance from a physician required to avoid these lengthy layoffs.

Umar Nurmagomedov pushed through a broken hand during his five-round decision loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 311. Now, he might need an extended break from the octagon.

On Tuesday, the California State Athletic Commission shared medical suspensions from UFC 311 with MMA Fighting. Several fighters could face lengthy layoffs.

Nurmagomedov leads the list with a mandatory seven-day suspension and a potential 180-day layoff due to a possible fracture in his left hand. He shared photos on social media revealing the injury, which he believes occurred in the opening round.

However, he can avoid the 180-day suspension if cleared by a physician. Fingers crossed!

Meanwhile, Jailton Almeida also faces a potential six-month layoff, with a seven-day suspension and a possible fracture in his left foot. Despite this, Almeida delivered a dominant first-round finish over Serghei Spivac.

Spivac himself may face a long layoff with a possible 180-day suspension after potentially fracturing his right foot and jaw. Ouch!

Bogdan Guskov secured a win on the UFC 311 prelims but didn’t escape unscathed. He’s looking at a seven-day suspension and a potential 180-day layoff for a possible fracture in his right hand.
