Renato Moicano is set to earn $250,000 for stepping in on short notice to fight Islam Makhachev at UFC 311, surpassing Makhachev’s $200,000 payout despite the latter being the lightweight champion.
In a surprising twist, Renato Moicano is set to earn more than lightweight champ Islam Makhachev. They’re gearing up for a short-notice main event at UFC 311 this Saturday.
The California State Athletic Commission spilled the beans on the card’s salaries to MMA Fighting just before the showdown.
Moicano? He’s bagging $250,000 with no win bonus. Why? Well, he jumped into the headliner spot last minute after Arman Tsarukyan got injured, just a day before the event. Originally, Moicano was supposed to face Beneil Dariush but now he’s in the spotlight—and getting paid handsomely for it.
Meanwhile, Makhachev is pocketing a cool $200,000 as a flat fee for his fourth title defense. No bonuses here!
Worth noting: these disclosed salaries are just what’s on paper. They don’t include any under-the-table bonuses or potential pay-per-view earnings from the UFC.
In the co-main event, bantamweight champ Merab Dvalishvili is raking in $500,000 for defending his title for the first time. He snagged that belt back in September against Sean O’Malley.
On another note, Umar Nurmagomedov is walking away with $100,000—no win bonus attached to this one either.
Former light heavyweight champs Jamahal Hill and Jiri Prochazka are both set to earn $200,000 in show money. But their win bonuses differ: Hill gets an extra $200,000 if victorious, while Prochazka scores $50,000 for a win at UFC 311.
