Jean Silva moved closer to his dream of marrying his partner in a church by earning an extra $50,000 performance bonus after defeating Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314, although the wedding remains costly due to the desired performance by Brazilian singer Belo, prompting Silva to humorously suggest UFC CEO Dana White as his best man to help cover the expenses.
Jean Silva is inching closer to his ultimate dream. After defeating Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314, he snagged a cool $50,000 performance bonus. But guess what? His dream isn’t about the UFC belt.
“Lord” Silva had a different goal in mind. He told MMA Fighting that he dreams of marrying his partner, Carolina de Castro, in a church. And weddings? They cost a lot of dough. Following his second-round submission victory on April 12, Silva shared why his wedding party would be “too expensive.” Yet, he’s now “very close” to making it happen.
“We should be married already,” Silva mentioned at the post-fight press conference. The catch? They want Brazilian singer Belo to perform. “For the love of God, Belo, bring your rate down,” he pleaded. Otherwise, it’s four more fights and a new contract for him!
A report from April 2024 revealed Belo’s fee: $120,000 per concert. Yikes! Silva jokingly pondered if inviting Dana White as his best man might cover that hefty bill.
When Dana White arrived for his media conference, MMA Fighting’s Jose Youngs relayed Silva’s question. White chuckled and said, “I’m gonna need more information on this, but I’m probably in.”
The Twitterverse buzzed with Dana White’s amused reaction to Silva’s proposal. “I’m going to need more information,” White repeated with a grin. Yet, he seemed game.
Silva vs. Mitchell was a highly anticipated showdown. Silva dazzled with a star-making performance, improving to 5-0 in the UFC and racking up five bonuses.
“I’m sure I’m the hero of the people now,” Silva declared confidently. “They needed one, and Jean ‘Lord’ Silva has arrived.”
Known for his knockout prowess and striking skills, Silva surprised everyone by choking Mitchell out with a slick ninja choke on the ground.
“Training was way more complicated than the fight,” Silva admitted. He credited Pablo Sucupira and Flavio Alvaro for their hard work. “Guys, get used to seeing this,” he added with pride.
So there you have it—a fighter with dreams beyond the octagon and a knack for entertaining both inside and outside the cage!
