UFC Atlanta: Usman vs. Buckley Headlining in June

Kamaru Usman will face Joaquin Buckley in the main event of UFC Atlanta on June 14, marking his return to the cage after a three-fight losing streak, with a co-headliner featuring Rose Namajunas against Miranda Maverick.

Kamaru Usman is finally getting back in the cage. Exciting, right?

On Friday, the UFC dropped some big news. Usman is set to face the rising welterweight star Joaquin Buckley. This showdown will headline UFC Atlanta on June 14 at the State Farm Arena.

Usman, with a record of 20-4, once held the welterweight crown from 2019 to 2021. He defended it five times! But lately, things haven’t been smooth. He’s on a three-fight losing streak, last seen battling Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294. That was a middleweight clash, taken on short notice.

Now, let’s talk Buckley. He’s on fire! With a 21-6 record, he’s won six straight since jumping back to welterweight in 2023. Four of those wins? By stoppage. His latest victory was a stunning finish of former interim champ Colby Covington at UFC Tampa in December.

Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Rose Namajunas (13-7) faces off against Miranda Maverick (15-5). It’s a women’s flyweight bout you won’t want to miss.

This marks the UFC’s fifth visit to Atlanta but their first Fight Night event here. The previous trips? All pay-per-view spectacles.
