UFC welterweights Vicente Luque and Sean Brady are set to headline UFC Atlantic City on March 30, according to an announcement by UFC CEO Dana White.
Big news from the UFC world! Vicente Luque and Sean Brady, two top-tier UFC welterweights, are set to steal the show at UFC Atlantic City. The announcement came straight from the horse’s mouth – UFC CEO Dana White, this past Friday.
The Luque vs. Brady showdown is the main event on March 30 at Boardwalk Hall. ESPN+ is expected to air it. White dropped this bombshell on social media, along with three other fight announcements.
This is Luque’s comeback gig. Remember his scheduled fight with Ian Machado Garry for UFC 296? Yeah, that got canned at the eleventh hour. Poor Garry contracted pneumonia and the UFC medical staff gave a big no-no for him to fight.
So, what did the UFC do? They didn’t rebook the Luque-Garry matchup. Instead, they pitted Garry against Geoff Neal. Fun fact: Neal was supposed to fight Garry at UFC 292 but had to back out due to some hush-hush reasons.
The last time we saw Luque in the octagon, he was up against ex-lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos. He claimed victory via decision at UFC Vegas 78 last August. That win broke his two-fight losing streak.
Brady too, is fresh off a win. He submitted Kelvin Gastelum, a one-time interim middleweight title challenger, at UFC Austin last month. After a TKO loss to Belal Muhammad in 2022 (his first professional setback), this win has reignited Brady’s title dreams.
Oh, and the Atlantic City fight card? It’s likely to feature a crucial flyweight bout between Erin Blanchfield and Manon Fiorot. Should be a good one!
