UFC Event Update: Rafael Fiziev vs. Mateusz Gamrot & Bryce Mitchell vs. Dan Ige Added to Lineup

The UFC APEX will host two big fights this September; a lightweight match between Rafael Fiziev and Mateusz Gamrot, and a featherweight bout between Bryce Mitchell and Dan Ige.

Two big fights are poised to make waves at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas this September. First, a featherweight bout sees Bryce Mitchell (15-1) take on Dan Ige (17-6). In the lightweight division, Rafael Fiziev (12-2) will face off against Mateusz Gamrot (22-2, 1 NC). Up until now, contracts for the Mitchell and Ige bout remain unsigned, but verbal agreements have been established. It’s important to note that the event will be headlined by the clash between Fiziev and Gamrot.

Both fighters are high-ranking contenders in their respective weight brackets, with Fiziev and Gamrot presently ranked No. 7 and No. 8 respectively in the 155 pounds category. Mitchell and Ige, on the other hand, hold the 13th and 15th spots at 145 pounds. This September matchup marks Fiziev’s UFC APEX comeback after a majority decision defeat to Justin Gaethje in March at UFC 286 in London. Despite the loss, his track record remains impressive, with six consecutive victories and a fifth-round knockout of former UFC champion Rafael dos Anjos.

Meanwhile, Gamrot is a former two-division KSW champion boasting five UFC victories out of seven fights. His last victory took place in March at UFC 285 over Jalin Turner by split decision. Bryce Mitchell is hoping to kick off his 2023 campaign with this fight after a missed opportunity at UFC 288 due to his bout with Jonathan Pearce being cancelled leading to a back injury. Dan Ige, on the other hand, is a UFC veteran with 14 appearances and a 9-5 record in the octagon. Ige is on a winning streak, having outmatched both Nate Landwehr and Damon Jackson in this year’s bouts.
