Alex Pereira receives a warm welcome from several marquee names, including UFC champion Jamahal Hill, as he announces his move to the light heavyweight division.
Alex Pereira is making a big move from middleweight to light heavyweight in the UFC, and he is not short of opponents eager to welcome him to his new division. Among them is UFC champion Jamahal Hill, who recently posted a short video clip on Instagram directed at Pereira, along with a caption reading, “Welcome, can’t wait to see you.” Pereira responded to Hill’s post in the comments, saying, “I am coming and will kick your door in.”
Interestingly, Hill and Pereira have shared the octagon before when Hill defeated Glover Teixeira to win a vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro. Pereira was in Teixeira’s corner and in the cage as Hill had gold wrapped around his waist. However, if the UFC decides not to give Pereira an immediate title shot, he could potentially have a date with former light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz.
Blachowicz told reporter Petesy Carroll that he is open to facing the hard-hitting Brazilian, saying, “I don’t think about [Pereira] right now, but I think, yeah why not? I like challenges, he’s a very big challenge. This fight will be also very big, very great, so why not? But we’ll see what’s going to be his next move.” One more possible opponent for Pereira’s first light heavyweight bout is one-time title challenger, Volkan Oezdemir. “No Time” simply tagged Pereira in a post along with an image of himself and the eyes emoji, adding the hashtag “#welcometo205.”
