Following the UFC Louisville event, multiple fighters received medical suspensions, including Andrea Lee and Brad Katona who face indefinite suspensions pending orthopedic clearance, while others like Dustin Stoltzfus, John Castaneda, and Cody Stamann face potential six-month layoffs.
Following the UFC Louisville event on June 8, two fighters face indefinite suspensions. A couple more are looking at potential six-month layoffs after the card in Kentucky.
On Thursday, the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Commission released the medical suspensions. The information was shared in a message sent to MMA Fighting.
Veteran UFC flyweight Andrea Lee received an indefinite suspension. She needs clearance from an orthopedist after getting an x-ray on her right foot.
Lee suffered the possible injury in her split decision loss to Montana De La Rosa. This marked her fifth consecutive defeat.
Former Ultimate Fighter winner Brad Katona is also facing a potential indefinite layoff. He needs an orthopedist’s clearance with an x-ray for a right hand injury.
Middleweight veteran Dustin Stoltzfus faces a potential six-month suspension. This is pending negative head CT results from his loss to Brunno Ferreira.
Stoltzfus previously revealed he suffered some sort of facial injury. He got blasted with a spinning back elbow that ended his night in Louisville.
He’ll need a doctor’s clearance to compete again. Otherwise, he’ll be out for at least six months.
John Castaneda also faces a potential six-month suspension. He lost to Daniel Marcos on the prelims.
Castaneda must receive a CT scan for pneumothorax — a collapsed lung. If not, he’ll be forced to sit out for the full six-month suspension.
Bantamweight Cody Stamann also faces a potential six-month suspension. He suffered a possible broken orbital bone in his fight against Taylor Lapilus.
