Eleven fighters, including Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Devin Clark, have been removed from the UFC roster due to release, contract expiration, or retirement.
The UFC roster has seen some changes. Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Devin Clark are among those who’ve been cut.
On Tuesday, UFC officials confirmed to MMA Fighting that 11 fighters are out. Some were released, others weren’t re-signed after contracts ended, and a few retired.
Who else got the boot? Mike Breeden, Fernie Garcia, Luis Saldana, Denys Bondar, Daniel Lacerda, and Mateus Mendonca, besides Nurmagomedov and Clark.
Retirement was the choice for Mark O. Madsen, Jamie Pickett, and Tyson Pedro. If they decide to step back into the ring, their remaining contract bouts will be honored.
The eight fighters who were let go or are contract-free can sign with any promotion they fancy.
Nurmagomedov, Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s cousin, had a 2-2 record in his four-fight UFC stint. But, alas, it’s over now.
Clark? He was with the UFC for close to eight years, part of the light heavyweight division. He’s had victories over Jake Collier, William Knight, and Alonzo Menifield. But, a 1-3 octagon run and consecutive losses spelled the end of his UFC journey.
And here’s a twist. Any of the released or contract-free fighters can re-sign with the UFC. Yep, anytime they want.
