UFC Vegas 82 Confirms Edson Barboza Vs. Sodiq Yusuff Matchup

Edson Barboza and Sodiq Yusuff are scheduled to fight in a featherweight showdown at UFC Vegas 82, with the event’s details yet to be officially announced.

Edson Barboza and Sodiq Yusuff are scheduled to face off in a highly-anticipated featherweight confrontation at UFC Vegas 82 on October 14th. The fight was confirmed by multiple sources following an announcement by MMA Junkie. As of now, the UFC has not presented the card officially. It’s expected that the UFC Vegas 82 event will be hosted at the UFC APEX.

An interesting fact is that this isn’t the first time Barboza and Yusuff were slotted to fight. Originally, the fight was expected to take place in October 2020, but due to unforeseen circumstances, Yusuff was replaced by Makwan Amirkhani in Abu Dhabi. The match ended with a decision victory for Barboza.

Barboza, boasting a fight record of 23 wins and 11 losses, is expected to ride on the wave of his latest victory. Previously, he scored a thrilling first-round knockout against Billy Quarantillo in April, which helped him recover from back-to-back losses against Giga Chikadze and Bryce Mitchell. Improving his record to 3-3, since moving down to the featherweight division (145 pounds). Yusuff on the other hand, with a record of 13-2, has been incredibly successful in his UFC career, winning seven out of his eight Octagon appearances, including a 2018 win at Dana White’s Contender Series. This 30-year old Nigerian fighter has had a perfect year in 2022, securing victories against Alex Caceres and Don Shainis. The contribution of Mike Heck to this report is duly acknowledged.
