The UFC Vegas 87 card has undergone several changes with two fights cancelled, two saved with last-minute replacements, and the total number of fights now standing at 11.
So, UFC Vegas 87 is coming up this Saturday. But hey, there’s been a bit of a shake-up.
Just a few days out, and we’ve got changes galore. UFC officials let the cat out of the bag on Tuesday. Two fights got canned, but two others? Saved by the bell with last-minute replacements.
Let’s talk featherweight division. Brendon Marotte? Yeah, he’s out. His bout with Mohammad Yahya? Axed from the card.
And there’s more. Josefine Knutsson also got the boot from her fight with Julia Polastri. That matchup? Also off the card. But here’s a twist: Polastri’s now stepping in for an injured Shauna Bannon. She’ll be squaring off with Stephanie Luciano at the UFC Fight Night. The one headlined by Rose Namajunas and Amanda Ribas on March 23? Yeah, that one.
Now, onto the lightweight fight. Joel Alvarez was supposed to fight Ludovit Klein, but visa issues got in the way. So who’s stepping in? None other than Contender Series veteran AJ Cunningham. He’ll be on Saturday’s card.
Remember when MMA Fighting reported that Benardo Sopai would replace Vinicius Oliveira? That’s still on, after Yanis Ghemmouri got pulled.
So where does that leave UFC Vegas 87? We’re looking at 11 fights now. The main event? A five-round heavyweight showdown between Jairzinho Rozenstruk and Shamil Gaziev.
