UFC Vegas 91: Fighters Respond to Alex Perez’s Intense Knockout Victory

Alex Perez ended a three-fight losing streak by knocking out Matheus Nicolau in the second round of the main event at UFC Vegas 91, marking his first win in nearly four years.

Alex Perez sure did make a statement on Saturday in Vegas. He had a bone to pick with the UFC flyweight division and the naysayers.

He’s a one-time UFC flyweight challenger, you know. And he’d been on a three-fight losing streak. But that all changed at UFC Vegas 91.

Perez went all out and brutally knocked out Matheus Nicolau in the second round. It was a sight to behold, I tell ya.

This win was a big deal for Perez. His first in almost four years. Last time he tasted victory was a first-round TKO of Jussier Formiga at UFC 250 in June 2020.

Since then, it’s been a rough ride for Perez. He was stopped by then flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 255 in November 2020. Then came the losses to current champ Alexandre Pantoja and Muhammad Mokaev.

But Perez’s win over Nicolau? Spectacular. UFC pros had a lot to say about it.

Paulo Costa (Borrachinha) tweeted, “What fire hands Perez! Congrats!”

C H T O V E R A chimed in with, “Well done Alex! What a ko.”

Diego Lopes sent his congrats in Spanish, “@alexperezMMA muchas felicidades mi hermano, vi el cuanto trabajaste duro las últimas semanas por agarrar esa pelea de reemplazo. A disfrutar te mando un abrazo.”

And マネル・ケイプ موسى Manel Kape had this to say, “Alex Perez is the man. Nicolau had only what he deserved, he ran from the first fight but the knockout was chasing him. Dead man.”

So, there you have it. Perez is back in the game. And he’s not going anywhere.
