Gerald Meerschaert earned a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus at UFC Vegas 96 for his record-breaking submission win, while Caio Borralho, Jared Cannonier, and Michael Morales also received bonuses for their respective performances.
Gerald Meerschaert snagged more than just a spot in UFC history on Saturday at UFC Vegas 96. He also pocketed an extra $50,000.
Meerschaert earned Performance of the Night accolades for his thrilling second-round submission of Edmen Shahbazyan. This victory propelled him past the legendary UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva for the most finishes in UFC middleweight history with 12.
The bonus cash marked the fifth post-fight reward of Meerschaert’s extensive UFC career. Not too shabby, huh?
UFC Vegas 96 took place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. The atmosphere was electric.
Joining Meerschaert on the bonus list were headliners Caio Borralho and Jared Cannonier. Also, fellow main card victor Michael Morales made the cut.
Borralho and Cannonier clinched Fight of the Night honors for their intense five-round battle. Borralho emerged victorious via unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Morales secured the night’s other Performance of the Night bonus for his first-round knockout of Neil Magny. What a way to make a statement!
All four bonus winners walked away with an additional $50,000 for their efforts. Not bad for a night’s work.
