Umar Nurmagomedov’s Arm Fracture Delays Fight, Open to Opponents

Umar Nurmagomedov, ranked No. 2 in the bantamweight division, is eager to return to the octagon despite an arm injury delaying his January fight, and remains open to any opponent as he continues to campaign for a title shot against UFC champion Merab Dvalishvili, who has shown interest in other matchups.

Umar Nurmagomedov’s itching to get back into the octagon. And honestly? He doesn’t mind who’s standing in his way.

Ranked No. 2 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, some say he’s the rightful challenger for UFC champ Merab Dvalishvili. Yet, Dvalishvili seems more interested in fighting Sean O’Malley or Petr Yan. Go figure.

Recently, Nurmagomedov shared an update on social media. He’s been sidelined by an arm fracture, unable to compete in January. But fear not—his arm’s healed, and he’s ready to rumble soon.

“I had a small arm fracture and couldn’t perform in January,” he said. “My arm is fine now, and I’m open to any offers.” Boldly adding, “Anyone, Anywhere!!”

It’s a bit of a mystery whether Nurmagomedov was ever slated for January’s UFC events. Fans are left wondering if he’ll fight again before facing Dvalishvili or why their bout isn’t headlining UFC 311 in Los Angeles on Jan. 18.

Rumor had it he’d face Song Yadong in December, but that fizzled out. Plus, he’s ruled out a March showdown with Dvalishvili due to Ramadan. Seems like these two are still worlds apart for now.
