The UFC’s Mexican Independence Day card is shaping up with flyweight contenders Tracy Cortez and Jasmine Jasudavicius set to square off in Las Vegas, in a card headlined by a women’s flyweight title rematch between champion Alexa Grasso and ex-champion Valentina Shevchenko.

The fight card for the UFC’s event on Mexican Independence Day is beginning to form. It has been confirmed that flyweight contenders Tracy Cortez and Jasmine Jasudavicius will face off in Las Vegas on Sep. 16. The key fight of the night will be a women’s flyweight title rematch featuring champion Alexa Grasso and former titleholder Valentina Shevchenko. This information was first reported by MMA Junkie.

Cortez has been undefeated since beginning her professional career, she joined the UFC in 2019. Starting as a bantamweight, she netted decision victories over Vanessa Melo and Stephanie Egger. Cortez then moved to flyweight where she continued her winning streak, her most notable victory being by decision over Melissa Gatto at UFC 274. This victory saw the 29-year-old Cortez rise to the No. 14 spot in the UFC’s flyweight rankings. She’s looking forward to continuing her upward trajectory in her career.

On the other hand, 34-year-old Jasudavicius made her UFC debut just last year and has faced her fair share of ups and downs. After securing a win in her UFC debut against Kay Hansen, she later lost to Natalia Silva in her subsequent fight. Nevertheless, Jasudavicius bounced back with consecutive victories over Gabriella Fernandes and Miranda Maverick this year. These wins paved her way to the No. 15 spot in the UFC’s rankings. Lastly, in addition to the women’s flyweight title fight, the event will see a significant welterweight bout between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Kelvin Gastelum, and a middleweight title fight between Chris Curtis and Anthony Hernandez.
