Usman Nurmagomedov will face Paul Hughes at a PFL event on January 25, 2024, in Dubai, marking his next challenge after an undefeated streak in Bellator.
Usman Nurmagomedov’s got a new challenge lined up. Yup, he’s ready to rumble!
This past Wednesday, the PFL dropped some big news. Bellator’s undefeated lightweight champ will square off against Paul Hughes (13-1). Mark your calendars for Jan. 25 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
Nurmagomedov boasts a spotless record—19 pro fights, zero losses. He’s defended his Bellator title twice, but there was a hiccup: A third defense against Brent Primus? Overturned to a no-contest due to a failed drug test. Still, he holds the No. 6 spot in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings.
Meanwhile, Hughes has been on fire in 2024. He’s racked up three wins between Bellator and PFL. His league debut last October was epic—a split decision victory over A.J. McKee at the Battle of the Giants event. Just the second fighter to ever beat McKee!
This Jan. 25 showdown is part of a multi-year deal between PFL and Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, plus the Dubai Sports Council. Catch it live on ESPN+!
