Valentina Shevchenko reclaimed her UFC flyweight title with a dominant unanimous decision over Alexa Grasso at UFC 306, earning widespread praise from fellow fighters for her performance.
Valentina Shevchenko is a UFC champion again. Fellow fighters are happy to pay their respects.
“Bullet” won a one-sided unanimous decision over Alexa Grasso. This put a stamp on their rivalry in the co-main event of UFC 306 on Saturday at Sphere in Las Vegas.
This was the third meeting between the flyweight stars. Grasso won the first via a shocking fourth-round submission, and the rematch ended in a controversial split draw.
This time, there would be no controversy nor surprises—other than how little resistance Grasso showed. Shevchenko took her down over and over and over again en route to a shutout on the scorecards.
“Valentina on a mission,” UFC welterweight Max Griffin wrote. He summed up Shevchenko’s performance in the most straightforward terms.
Meanwhile, former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo praised Shevchenko for her 25 minutes of dominance. Check out the best fighter reactions from social media below.
What a dominate performance by Shevchenko! She reclaimed her throne once again! #UFC306

Did not expect this co main to be like this. Shevchenko utilizing the grappling to slow this fight down. Not allot of action but it’s a way to get the W.

GRASSO winning this fight from all the attacks and no offense from Valentina.
Takedowns and control ain’t winning her this fight— Josh Thomson (@THEREALPUNK)
Valentina is so impressive! Not only in her fighting ability, but I believe she just spoke English, Spanish and Thai in her victory speech. #UFC306

Shevchenko gets it done with a very methodical and smart gameplan. Grasso seemed very unprepared from a year ago. Not suprised with the win by Valentina but I am suprised with the lack of improvement in Grasso’s grappling for this fight. #ufc306
