Virna Jandiroba Confident as Next Title Contender After UFC Vegas 94

Virna Jandiroba aims to secure a title shot against Zhang Weili by defeating Amanda Lemos at UFC Vegas 94, believing an impressive win could elevate her above Tatiana Suarez in the contender rankings.

Virna Jandiroba aims to solidify her claim as the next contender for Zhang Weili’s UFC strawweight title. This Saturday at UFC Vegas 94, she faces Amanda Lemos.

Jandiroba is riding high on a three-fight winning streak. She believes a decisive victory could catapult her past Tatiana Suarez in the title race.

“I definitely think [I’m next],” Jandiroba told MMA Fighting. “The two top-five fighters that haven’t fought for the title yet are myself and Tatiana, and we’re two fresh names.”

A win over Amanda Lemos could be her ticket to a title fight. The stakes are high, but Jandiroba is trying to stay grounded.

“Obviously brings extra weight,” she admitted about the pressure of being so close to a title shot. “But I try to handle it the best way possible.”

For Jandiroba, the belt represents more than just a trophy. “It’s the symbol of a dream,” she said passionately.

But first things first: she needs to win this fight. “Saturday is the future,” she emphasized, focusing on what lies immediately ahead.

Jandiroba’s grappling skills have earned her numerous submission victories. Her record includes UFC stoppages of Felice Herrig and Mallory Martin.

Amanda Lemos presents a different challenge with her striking prowess. She lost a decision to Zhang in 2023 but has several knockouts under her belt.

“We’re both complete athletes,” Jandiroba noted, acknowledging their distinct fighting styles. “She’s more of a striker and I come from a grappling background.”

Lemos recently won a decision over jiu-jitsu legend Mackenzie Dern. Jandiroba studied that fight closely during her camp.

“My jiu-jitsu is different,” she asserted, believing she could exploit openings Lemos left against Dern.

Despite their similarities, Jandiroba feels they differ significantly in many aspects. She’s prepared for five rounds but hopes for an early finish due to their aggressive styles.

“I think it can end early because we both go for the finish,” Jandiroba concluded confidently.
