WBC Expels Ryan Garcia for Racial Slurs

Ryan Garcia has been expelled from the WBC by its president Mauricio Sulaiman due to his use of racial slurs and anti-Muslim comments on Twitter, adding to a series of recent troubles including a positive test for a banned substance and an arrest for felony vandalism.

Ryan Garcia’s troubles continue. The boxing star has been expelled from the WBC.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman announced the expulsion. Garcia used racial slurs and made anti-Muslim comments during a Twitter Spaces stream on Thursday.

Garcia’s comments spread quickly on social media. This led to Sulaiman issuing a statement expelling him from all WBC activities.

“Exercising my authority as president of the WBC, I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization,” said Sulaiman. “We reject any form of discrimination.”

Sulaiman expressed concern for Garcia’s well-being. He mentioned that Garcia had declined multiple offers for help with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Garcia responded in a since-deleted tweet. “I was trolling I want all the killing to stop. I love everyone sorry if I offended you,” he wrote.

Garcia’s team did not immediately respond to messages from MMA Fighting.

This incident adds to a tumultuous stretch for Garcia. After defeating Devin Haney in April, he tested positive for ostarine and was suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission for one year.

Additionally, Garcia was arrested for felony vandalism at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills in June.
