Yoel Romero secured a first-round knockout victory against Duane Crespo at Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship event in Miami, marking his second win of 2024 and continuing his strong performance in recent combat sports outings.
Yoel Romero wrapped up the night with a bang at the Dirty Boxing Championship’s debut event. It was quick, it was decisive—Romero made short work of his opponent.
This private event, held by Mike Perry’s new combat sports promotion, took place in Miami on Saturday night. In the main event, Romero unleashed fury on Power Slap standout Duane Crespo, ending it with a first-round knockout. Brutal? Absolutely.
Romero’s appearance was a surprise. No one knew until Friday when he weighed in for the heavyweight headliner. This UFC title challenger and Bellator veteran secured his second win of 2024. Earlier in February, “Soldier of God” claimed victory over Thiago Santos at the PFL vs. Bellator card.
At 47, Romero’s still got it—four wins in his last five bouts. Notably, those wins include two third-round knockouts against Melvin Manhoef and Alex Polizzi. Impressive for any fighter, let alone someone nearing half a century.
Crespo, on the other hand, has had a rocky path. After four knockout losses across MMA, boxing, and bare-knuckle boxing, he turned to slap fighting. Known as “The Iron Giant,” he’s bounced back with three consecutive wins in Dana White’s Power Slap organization.
Unexpected twists and turns? You betcha! Combat sports never fail to deliver surprises.
