Zafar Mohsen’s PFL debut victory was overturned after he tested positive for the banned substance drostanolone, resulting in a one-year suspension and a $2,000 fine.
Zafar Mohsen’s debut win in the PFL? Scrubbed from the records.
MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin got the scoop, confirming with Mike Mazzulli of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation. Turns out, Mohsen tested positive for a banned substance after his unanimous decision win over Husein Kadimagomaev at October’s PFL Battle of the Giants event.
The culprit? Drostanolone, a prohibited anabolic steroid. Mohsen didn’t contest it and now faces a one-year suspension plus a $2,000 fine. His suspension kicked off on Oct. 19.
MMA Junkie was first to break the news.
The Battle of the Giants happened on Oct. 19 at The Mayadeen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Besides Mohsen, all main card fighters came up clean in their tests, including champs Francis Ngannou, Cris Cyborg, and Johnny Eblen. Tests were done both in and out of competition.
Mohsen vs. Kadimagomaev was the second fight on the main card that night. With his league debut win overturned, Mohsen’s record slips back to 13-4. Bummer!
