Zhalgas Zhumagulov Leaves UFC Roster After Difficult 1-6 Promotional Run

Flyweight fighter Zhalgas Zhumagulov has been removed from the UFC roster after the completion of his contract, following a 1-6 run in the promotion.

Flyweight competitor Zhalgas Zhumagulov has been removed from the UFC roster, with his departure coinciding with the end of his most recent contract with the promotion. This was confirmed by UFC officials and was noted by the UFC Roster Watch, a social media account that relies on algorithms to update on roster changes.

Throughout his time with UFC, Zhumagulov had seven fights, with a record of one win and six losses. Despite a number of extremely close split decisions that could easily have swung in his favor, Zhumagulov’s victories were sparse. His UFC fights ended in split decisions against Jeff Molina, Charles Johnson and Joshua Van, the most recent of these taking place at the UFC Jacksonville card in June.

Before his time with the UFC, Zhumagulov was known for his impressive record, which included several victories over well-known fighters such as Tyson Nam, Tagir Ulanbekov and Ali Bagautinov. His stint at the UFC, however, was not marked by the same level of success; with his only win being a submission victory over Jerome Rivera back in 2021. Although his contract has come to an end and he has been removed from the UFC roster, the possibility of Zhumagulov being brought back into the UFC fold in the future is not off the table, despite not being re-signed at this time.
