It seems the UFC will be holding a fight night in Austin, Texas on June 27 and we have our first fight being announced. Combate’s Raphael Marinho reports that a women’s flyweight bout between Jennifer Maia and Viviane Araujo is being put together for the card. Nothing has been made official by the UFC, but both have verbally agreed to fight.

Araujo is looking to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss against Jessica Eye from UFC 245 on December 14, 2019. Before her loss to Eye, Araujo was on a five-fight win streak and four of the wins she finished her opponents. She is ranked seventh in the flyweight division and has a record of 8-2. If she beats Maia, she can crack the top five and get closer to a flyweight title fight.

Maia is also looking to get back on the win column. Her last loss was against Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 244 on November 2, 2019, in a title eliminator fight. Maia is still in the mix as a contender for the flyweight championship and a win over Araujo can put her back in another title eliminator fight. She is ranked fourth in the flyweight division and has an MMA record of 17-6.
