Junior Dos Santos vs Ciryl Gane in the works

UFC

UFC heavyweight prospect Ciryl Gane is expected to have his biggest test in the UFC to date. UFC President Dana White spoke to the media on October 15th in Abu Dhabi and was asked for an update on when Gane will fight again. White revealed that the plan is for Gane to fight former UFC heavyweight champion, Junior Dos Santos. MMAFighting’s Alexander K. Lee and Guilherme Cruz reports that Gane is “aiming to fight Dos Santos in December.”

Gane is looking to keep his undefeated MMA record intact with six wins. He has won three fights in the UFC. His last win was against Tanner Boser by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 165 on December 21, 2019, at the Sajik Arena in Busan, South Korea. Gane was slated to fight four times this year, but each fight was canceled. A win over Dos Santos turns Gane from a prospect to a contender in the heavyweight division.

Dos Santos is looking to bounce back from a three-fight losing streak. His last loss was against Jairzinho Rozenstruik by TKO at UFC 252 on August 15th at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dos Santos is ranked seventh in the heavyweight division. While Dos Santos is on a losing streak, he is still a contender in the division. He has shown in the past the ability to come back from losses and get into the conversation as a title challenger. A win over a rising prospect in Gane puts Dos Santos back on track in the division.
