Dominick Reyes‘s biggest fight of his career will take place in Houston, Texas on February 8th at UFC 247.
Reyes will be across the octagon from Jon Jones, who many consider being the best of all time. Back in October of 2019 after Reyes TKO’ed Chris Weidman, he spoke to ESPN and was asked how a fight with Jon Jones will end.
“When we fight, when he starts hiding from his management I will knock him out.”
Fast forward 3 months and Reyes remains adamant that he will knockout Jones. In an interview with Ariel Hewani of ESPN, he remained confident in his abilities.
“I look forward to seeing him on his back. I’ve had many visions of this fight and it remains the same. I’m looking down and he’s on his back. I said I would knock out Weidman and I did that.”
Earlier in the day prior to the interview Jon Jones expressed his feelings toward Dominick Reyes on social media.
“I kind of laughed at those tweets. He just doesn’t stop. He’s pi bolar or something. Honestly, man, he’s trying to make something in his head. I don’t give an s***. He can try to belittle me. None of that matters.”
“He’s in love with me man. I laugh because he thinks he knows me as a person and human being.”
Jones last stepped into the octagon against Thiago Santos at UFC 239. There were many critics who thought that Jones did not look impressive that fight and is slowing down. Reyes think he’s the same guy.
“I think he’s pretty much the same guys. I don’t think he’s exposing himself. He’s just getting different opponents and guys are moving around better. He’s just making excuses for not getting finishes. I hope I get the best version of Jon Jones. I want the best Jon Jones.”
UFC 247 will co-main event will feature women’s flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko who will look for a 3rd straight title defense against Katlyn Chookagian. You can check out the complete card here.
