UFC middleweight Uriah Hall will have his biggest fight to date this summer. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reports that Hall and Yoel Romero have agreed to fight each other for an August fight card. The exact date for the matchup is still to be determined.
Hall is on a two-fight win streak. His last win was against Antonio Carlos Jr. at UFC Fight Night 158 on September 14, 2019, by split decision. That win helped Hall get ranked tenth in the middleweight division. Hall was supposed to fight Jacare Souza at UFC 249 on May 9. However, Souza tested positive for the coronavirus and was pulled from the event. A win over Romero could put Hall in the top five of the middleweight division.
Romero is looking to get back in the win column. He is on a three-fight losing streak. This is the first time in Romero’s career that he has lost multiple fights in a row. Romero’s last loss was against UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya by unanimous decision at UFC 248 on March 7. He is still ranked fourth in the middleweight division and is still one of the best middleweights in the UFC. A win over Hall helps remind fans that he is still a threat in the division.
Both fighters have yet to sign a fight contract. The UFC has not officially made a statement on what card the fight is being targeted for. As of now, there are five events planned for August.
