Conor McGregor seems to be in terrific shape ahead of his bout against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on January 18th.

In an interview with TMZ News the president of the UFC Dana White was told by a UFC medical doctor that Conor looks the best he has seen ever seen him.

Despite claims, McGregor is in the best shape we have seen him in awhile Dana White was quick to point out that you can be in the best shape but ring rust can affect a fighter’s return.

“Ring rust is real and I believe in it. We’ll see how that goes. And I think that the level of disrespect shown to ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone by the media, a lot of the fans, and definitely the sportsbooks in Las Vegas, is insanity” said White.

White suspects that McGregor will come in around 168 to 169 lbs slightly below the 170lb fight. In an interview with ESPN recently McGregor noted he was at around 160 lbs.

McGregor’s record at Welterweight is 1-1 (both against Nate Diaz). Cerrone meanwhile has fought at Welterweight 10 times in his career. The decision by McGregor to bump up in weight has left many startled by his decision. He will be giving up 2 inches in height and a man who has looked dangerous at 170lbs although he recently lost to Justin Gaetje at UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs Gaetje

“Cerrone has gone on these two-fight skids before and come back. ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is an accomplished fighter who needs something to fight for. This is the type of fight that Cerrone has a chance to be an absolute spoiler in. This is his deal. These are the fights he lives for”
